Hunting mushrooms in FNQ, Australia. Tropical Chanterelles, Trumpets, Oysters, Amanitas.

i am an amateur fungi obsessionist, not a professional - which will be obvious by watching this video. i became interested in fungi during a short period of time living in europe in late 2019, so my experience with fungi is still at it's early stages.
this trip was self-funded.

do not attempt to eat any mushroom (or wild food for that matter) if you are not 100% of it's identification. the onus is on you to forage safely. i do not mention the lookalikes for Chanterelles (Austropaxillus, Hygrophoropsis, Hygrocybe and several members of Gomphaceae for starters) or several other fungi - so please do your research if you intend to consume any wild food. learning to forage is a long game, there is no need to rush.

this was filmed January 27-30, 2023 in the rainforests within 100km of Cairns. there had been an enormous flush of fungi in mid-december to early january with early wet season rains, unfortunately when I arrived it had not rained for 10 days. it started to rain again during my stay but there was not a huge variety of fungi and most of the mushrooms were small.
