Welcome to the first journey on Hidden Miles Journal.
In this long-form, relaxing POV drive, we explore the changing landscapes of western Colorado, traveling through Escalante Canyon and climbing onto Love Mesa on the north side of the Uncompahgre Plateau.
Our drive begins just north of Delta, Colorado, in a semi-desert environment, before entering the winding canyon roads of Escalante Canyon. From there, we follow the main canyon route, then transition onto a jeep trail as we climb out of the canyon toward the plateau.
As elevation increases, the scenery shifts through pinyon–juniper woodland, scrub oak, and eventually into a forest habitat within the Uncompahgre National Forest. After reaching the top of the plateau, we continue along Divide Road, finishing the journey as pavement begins on the west side of Montrose, Colorado.
This route includes an easy-rated jeep trail, with a few sections that may feel moderate depending on weather conditions. The road is not open year-round, making this a unique and seasonal drive.
The journey is filmed in real-time POV from the passenger seat, with no commentary, allowing you to relax and experience the road as it unfolds. The drive is completed in a 2024 Toyota 4Runner, well-suited for exploring quiet backroads and rugged terrain.
If you enjoy scenic backroad drives, slow travel, and discovering roads less traveled, this video offers a peaceful escape through diverse Colorado landscapes.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
