Surf fishing at North Topsail Beach is difficult but with patience, it can be very rewarding! Using fresh shrimp and a pompano rig, I was able to catch multiple surf species including pinfish, pigfish, whiting, and a puffer fish! Fishing was pretty slow for most anglers and I was not the exception but with a few tricks up my sleeve and the proper bait, I will still able to make the most out of my trips! Most of my surf fishing was done around the New River Inlet with the actually inlet providing the most bites.
