Today I cut open and inspected the oil filter on an old Toyota that just started running VRP. I wanted to check for sludge and see if there's any concern about clogging the oil filter on this one. Turned out well! Also tested the rumor about Restore and Protect possibly cleaning varnish off the oil dipstick. Didn't see much change this time, but will keep checking as I continue to run this oil in the car. This car has had a decent maintenance history for the 60,000 miles or so that we have owned it, with me changing the oil using full synthetic oil and a higher-end filter ever 5-7k miles. Car both leaks and burns some oil, and I'm eager to see how and whether that changes over time as well. Stay tuned.
