Our find of the year for 2025. This is a museum grade 400 pound piece of Michigan Float Copper. (It did not end up in a museum). Float copper is copper that was ripped from veins of copper in the bedrock by glaciers. The glaciers tumbled the sharp jagged edges off the copper as they carried(floated) it across the landscape. We find it where the glaciers deposited it using Minelab Equinox metal detectors. A vast majority is found in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula but it has been found all over the Midwest.
