This is not a political statement.
It is a pastoral and prophetic appeal.
At a time when churches are being attacked, worship disrupted, pastors and nuns intimidated, and Christian communities traumatised, including grave and well-documented violence in the North-East political power has been placed at the center of our sacred celebrations.
I have praised the Prime Minister and the Government of India whenever praise was due, including on international platforms. Precisely because of that, I speak now in conscience. Silence in the face of suffering is not neutrality, it becomes complicity.
This message calls the Body of Christ in India to unity, repentance of indifference, and moral courage. Christians are not here to coerce or convert anyone by force. As Jesus said, “Come, follow Me.” We bear witness to the truth of salvation in Christ, freely, without fear.
I extend an open, non-coercive invitation to those in authority:
Come. Follow Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
We stand for peace, harmony, dignity, and justice for all Indians.
This is a call to stand united.
A call to speak truth.
A call to stand where Christ stands—with the persecuted.
