Driving in Bulgaria: A3 E79 Struma Motorway / Автомагистрала „Струма“ from Pernik to Blagoevgrad

In this video you can drive along on the A3 E79 Struma Motorway from Pernik (Southwest of Sofia) to the current end just beyond the city of Blagoevgrad.

The Struma Motorway, named after the Struma river, is quite a scenic motorway running through some challenging landscapes. It's been constructed over the past years but is not fully finished yet. The missing piece, just South of Blagoevgrad, is currently under construction (partly). It's a challenging construction phase as the missing link will run along a narrow river gorge and requires quite a few expensive tunnels and bridges.

The missing link is about 42 kilometers long of which 12 kilometers is currently under construction. Further South the Motorway is in service and runs all the way to the Greek border (Kulata). That stretch of motorway will be featured in a future video, stay tuned :)
