Todays walk took me to the Cambridgeshire / Essex border where there are several incredible historic features to see. I began by the church in Bartlow which dates back to the 12th Century and followed lanes and footpaths across to Hadstock to see its fascinating Ango-Saxon Church which is likely to be a Minster Church founded by King Cnut in 1016 and built on the site of an even earlier Ango-Saxon Church. I then headed back to Bartlow to visit Bartlow Hills; Roman Burial Mounds dating back 1900 years and the largest Roman Barrow in northern Europe and largest barrow cemetery in Britain.
