The area around the Trincomalee coast in the Eastern Province was plunged into great tension yesterday, Sunday.
Following the alleged attempt to illegally install a Buddha statue there and the construction around it, there was a significant level of distrust and anxiety among the people in the area.
Locals alleged that these operations were carried out suddenly without any legal permission.
