This drive was done with a 2022 Model Y Performance that has ultrasonics sensors, no radar, the HW3/AI3 FSD computer, and the FSD profile is set to "Standard".
Tesla has renamed the FSD profiles to "Chill", "Standard", and "Hurry".
00:00 - The Beginning - Discussion of division between 12.6.1 and 13.x
01:37 - I try to demonstrate that my profile is set to "Standard", however, I learn that if below 50mph you can't change the profile.
02:29 - I point out that the "Max speed" is now very little numbering in the upper left corner of the screen.
05:02 - FSD waits pretty late to get into the right lane here, when it does make the decision, there's a truck coming from behind at a speed faster than me, so it waits while keeping the signal on to get over, the moves over.
06:33 - Begin highway driving, you can tell now because it says "Standard" in the upper left corner of the screen, I then demonstrate changing the profiles via clicking the scroll wheel left/right. As a whole, it also stays in the right lane much longer than I would have.
08:36 - With 1.3mi to the exit, FSD get into the center lane to over take traffic. Honestly, I'm not sure this is a decision I would do, however, here it works out.
09:18 - Merge from I-4 to SR 570 - I disagree with the decision making here. FSD gets into the far right lane, which ultimately ends. Staying in the second to right lane here is a better choice in the long run, otherwise in high traffic scenarios you can run out of room at the end of the lane to get over.
10:29 - Vehicle in the right emergency lane/shoulder. Florida law states we have to move over for the car, which FSD does quite well.
10:43 - I approach a truck merging onto the highway and math out that we'll be at the merge at about the same time. FSD again gets out of the way quite well.
13:45 - End highway driving - FSD attempts to take right lane at toll plaza, however, the right lane is closed. It does correct itself in time, however, I'm less certain it would have done so if there was a car behind me. Scary, but handled well enough.
16:53 - Regression - Vehicle fails to maintain the center of three left turn lanes, and goes from the center left turn lane to the left most left turn lane. It works out, but is not proper. *In watching the video in post*, I believe what happened is that the vehicle in front of me changed lanes mid intersection, and as FSD was tracking the car ahead of me, it did the same maneuver. So, I understand how/why the error happened, but it's still not good.
18:54 - Arrive at destination to find the car wanting to park, however, it is unable to do so. This leads me to believe that the only difference between v12.6.1 and v13.x is that v13.x can concatenate the commands to park/unpark/drive/reverse and such. FSD clearly wants to back into parking spaces, repeatedly, but fails to do so. It does, however, navigate around the debris in the road.
21:00 - Autopark, works good.
22:16 - Begin Return trip - I describe that the route is doomed to fail, after putting car into FSD, it puts itself into a corner, and fails, requiring disengage and rescue it. v13 would not have this problem, as it would have put the car in reverse and rescued itself.
26:04 - FSD back on for return leg
26:26 I disagree with getting into the left lane, as it needs to turn right further along on the trip. It works, but it is not what I would have done, in high traffic I don't think it would have worked out as well.
22:55 - I explain merging from Harden Blvd to SR 570
30:00 - Car stops and waits for cross traffic to clear, then perfectly navigates directly to the SR 570 on ramp via a "Just cut across all the lanes" maneuver, versus "Change each lane separately" prior versions started doing. It then starts to reduce down to 25mph going through the toll plaza, however, it speeds back up again comfortably, so not perfect there, but acceptable.
34:38 - FSD remains in right lane as we approach the Tampa onramp for I-4, ideally it should get into the left lane as the right one ends. It works out, but I'd have done it sooner.
35:40 - FSD gets uncomfortably close to vehicle in front of me.
36:30 - Minor issues merging onto I-4 due to oppositional traffic
37:19 - Disengagement - Traffic in my lane comes to a stop. It feels like FSD isn't going to stop in time, so I take control and hit brakes a little harder. The concern here is less "Will I stop in time" and more "Will the people behind me get enough warning, and not hit _me_?". I didn't like this.
39:05 - Tons of opportunities to get into right lane, FSD waits till .4mi, would've been faster to change lanes sooner.
42:50 - Slight brake pumping for yellow light
46:06 - The end/summary, there's a point where it turns right and clips the corner, which is concerning and there's normally a HUGE pot hole there which happened to be filled in this time.
As a whole 12.6.1 is better, however, navigation continues to be an issue, and it brakes late.
