Empire State Plaza Massive Orwellian World Brutalist Complex

In Florida, we have Disney World. In New York, there is Orwellian World. You can walk around the plaza to see Brutalist structures including The Egg, you can go up the observation deck in Corning Tower (available only on weekdays). Whoever designed this complex should get a trophy because purely from an architectural standpoint, this complex is very unique and uncompromising in terms of Brutalist architecture. The fact that it was so uncrowded the day these pictures were taken makes the place look even more Orwellian. This is actually eth largest state capitol in America. Appropriate music were added to enhance the vibe that this place is obviously conveying.

Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York is a vast 98-acre government and cultural complex built during the Rockefeller era and designed largely by architect Wallace Harrison. It includes major structures such as the Corning Tower, The Egg performing arts center, multiple state agency buildings, the New York State Museum, and expansive public spaces unified by a long reflecting pool and an extensive underground concourse.

Architecturally, the Plaza is a monumental expression of late-modernist and Brutalist design principles. While its high-rise towers reflect international-style modernism, several of its most iconic buildings—especially The Egg and certain low-rise civic structures—embody Brutalism’s massive forms, bold geometry, and sculptural concrete. Because of its scale, cohesion, and use of these styles, it is frequently described as the largest Brutalist-era government complex in the United States.
