See More Garden Goodies: http://www.WisconsinGarden.com - - - As part of our eclectic garden mission we will be experimenting with a technique on preparing garlic for planting. This will be our third year of adding garlic in our garden and the second year using our own stock of German purple stripe hardneck garlic bulbs. We’ve divided our cloves in 2 groups, one untreated and the other group soaking in the following formula. This will be a two-day process where during Day 1 we will be presoaking our garlic cloves in a mixture that consists of 1 quart of water, 1 ½ teaspoons of Seaweed Extract powder, 1 ½ teaspoons of Baking Soda, mixing and placing our test group of garlic cloves. We will allow the garlic to soak in this mixture for approximately 16 hours. On Day 2 we will drain and remove the cloves and place them in a glass jar and fill it with 100-140 proof Vodka for 20 minutes. After 20-minutes we’ll drain and plant the cloves within the hour. This process is reported to grow larger and healthier bulbs, remove mites, fungus, and many other potential garlic-related problems and diseases. We will gladly report on the results during harvest next July.
