OKAN fuses Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk and global rhythms in songs about immigration, courage and love. Taking their name from the word for heart in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria, OKAN is led by the Cuban-born, Grammy and Latin-Grammy nominated violinist Elizabeth Rodriguez and percussionist Magdelys Savigne Having recently worked with Bomba Estereo, Lido Pimienta, and Dayme Arocena, OKAN’s Juno-winning sophomore release Espiral was included in CBC Music's top 20 and NPR's top 10 Alt Latino's albums of the year.

OKAN fusionne les racines afro-cubaines, le jazz, le folk et les rythmes mondiaux dans des chansons sur l’immigration, le courage et l’amour. OKAN, dont le nom vient du mot « cœur » dans la religion afro-cubaine Santeria, est mené par la violoniste Elizabeth Rodriguez, née à Cuba et finaliste aux Grammy et aux Latin Grammy, et la percussionniste Magdelys Savigne. Ayant récemment travaillé avec Bomba Estereo, Lido Pimienta et Dayme Arocena, le deuxième album, Espiral, d’OKAN est récompensé par un Juno et figure dans le top 20 de CBC Music ainsi que dans le top 10 des albums latinos alternatifs de l’année de NPR.
