Dr. Anand Ranganathan opened with a provocative reframing: “Spare the fundamentals, snare the fundamentalist.” Bollywood, he argued, is not the villain — it is the symptom. The disease lies in government policy since Gandhi and Nehru, a deliberate strategy of minority appeasement that evolved in three distinct phases:

Welfare — preferential schemes, Haj subsidies, salaries for maulvis, and institutional funding for minority bodies.

Wokefare — a psychological assault on Hindu self-esteem through textbooks, theater, literature, and cinema, instilling self-loathing and cultural ridicule.

Warfare — the current phase, where open hostility toward Hindu identity is mainstreamed.

He cited the mutilation of Vande Mataram as a case study in state complicity. In 1937, Jinnah demanded the removal of two verses invoking Durga and Lakshmi. Within two weeks, Nehru, heading the Congress Working Committee, complied. Those verses — symbolic of India’s civilizational identity — have remained excised for 70 years. Prime Minister Modi highlighted this in 2024, but despite 11 years of BJP rule, no action has been taken to restore them.

AKTK pointed to a disturbing trend in Bollywood lyrics — the casual, almost devotional use of the word “kafir” (unbeliever) in romantic and spiritual contexts:“Main kafir toh nahin, magar hansii tujhko dekh kar…”
“Kafir jhuk jaaye dar pe, farmaaye mujhse tu hi tu hi hai bandagi…” (Anand Bakshi)
“Warana milta kahan hum kafiron ko Khuda…” (Kunal Verma)

All written by Hindus. All normalizing a term that, in its theological root, denotes exclusion from divine grace. Shantanu Gupta, fresh from directing Ajay: An Untold Story, shared his firsthand struggle. Even “aligned” Hindu writers resisted removing Islamicate vocabulary. One actor refused to say “bulldozer” — now coded as anti-Muslim hate speech. Three major actors rejected his film, fearing backlash from industry “camps.” His script required 6–10 rewrites to purge ingrained bias.

Gupta’s film faced 29 cuts from the CBFC — under the current government. He took the case to the Bombay High Court. Justices Dere and Gokhale watched the entire film over a weekend

Anupam Mishra traced Bollywood’s ideological journey:1950s: 49 films featured Narad Muni. Mythological epics dominated.
1970s: Salim-Javed wrote 27 consecutive hits — zero Muslim villains.
1990s: VP Singh greenlit Sword of Tipu Sultan on Doordarshan. The Khan trio rose.
2000s: My Name is Khan (“I’m not a terrorist”) became a cultural mantra.
2014–present: A tentative counter-wave — Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, The Sabarmati Report, Kerala Story.
