I traveled to Nagano, Japan to explore two completely different worlds in one trip 🇯🇵⛰️
First, we visited the legendary Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, home to Japan’s famous snow monkeys that roam freely in the mountains and soak in natural hot springs 🐒❄️
Then, things took a darker turn as I explored the Matsushiro Imperial Underground Headquarters — a massive hidden World War 2–era tunnel complex built deep beneath the mountains. Walking through these abandoned tunnels felt like stepping back in time, uncovering a secret side of Japan’s wartime history rarely talked about.
From peaceful mountain landscapes to eerie underground bunkers, this journey through Nagano shows a side of Japan most travelers never see.
