A few passenger services, a Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT) and an aggregates freight train pass this large level crossing, separated down the middle by a traffic island on each side, located within the port town of Newhaven at the foot of the South Downs next to Newhaven Town Railway Station. Newhaven is about ten miles east of Brighton. There was once a signal box here which had control over this level crossing until early 2019, but control has now gone to Three Bridges and the signal box demolished roughly within two years after control was transferred. This is one of the more unique level crossings as it's probably one of the only ones remaining in this country to have barrier skirts going only part way along the length of the barrier (only covering the pedestrian walkway and not the road). There's a total of 5 LED road traffic lights (wigwags) here, three normally-oriented ones, and two thin sets located in the middle. There are four loud alarms here, but one of these wasn't sounding at all when these videos were filmed.
