Let's explore Wommack Mill We'll learn how to grind corn and flour using a steam powered grist mill.

Resting in the Ozark Mountains is a nearly 200 year old grist mill that serves as the mascot for a small rural community. Home to the Fair Grove Heritage days craft fair and ice cream social. This mill receives tens of thousands of visitors annually. For the region, a steam powered mill is unusual, however the mill boasts of four operating grinders, one vertical stone mill, one horizonal stone mill and two roller mills. We will take a closer look at all of the equipment inside of Wommack Mill. We will also talk about the history of the mill and the struggles of constructing a mill back in the day. In this video we'll talk about the process of how flour is made and how they used mills to grind corn.

These mills were the original "green" energy manufacturing plants. There is so much history associated with these old grist mills and each one has it's own story to tell. Join me as we explore water mills all over the country.
