EVH : Blue Vs Red VS Boost !

Today, we compare thoroughly the blue channel and the red channel of the EVH 5150 III 6L6 50w (that’s a long name isn’t it ? )

I am in love with this amplifier, however, sometimes it’s worth scratching your head a bit to improve something that’s already awesome. Most of us know how boosting a saturated channel makes it tighter and more aggressive, but does this suit the blue channel here ?

And then, the infamous red channel, with more gain than any of us actually asked for. I read somewhere that a lower gain tube could unlock the channel’s potential. Is it true ?

So you get the normal blue channel, the boosted blue (with an MXR Wylde Overdrive), the low gain 12AU7 tube on the red, then the normal red, how 'bout that ?

All the tracks are the same, all the FX/EQ/sounds whatever are the same, and the amp settings are exactly what you can see on the video ! Let the amp speak for itself !
