More fruits and veggies, less sugar, water instead of juice. We've all heard it before. But parents know how unrealistic that is. Getting a child to eat what's good for them has become a battle of wills and by and large, many parents have accepted the notion that kids are picky eaters.

What if eating was just like any other skill, similar to riding a bike or using a potty, that kids get to learn? What if parents, armed with the right knowledge, could guide their children to become great eaters? In her talk, Katya Baxter explains three simple ways parents can tap into their child's natural ability to eat a wide variety of foods, laying a solid foundation for a life-long healthy relationship with food. Born and raised in Russia, Katya spent her youth on the tennis courts of St. Petersburg. After studying nutrition in Toronto, she has employed her passion for food to create nutritional programs for both individual clients and an international luxury hotel chain. As a life-long explorer of world cuisines, a wife, and a mom, Katya believes eating real food connects our physical and emotional well-being with our cultural backgrounds and traditions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
