Street Breakfast Market In Shandong, China: Convenient, Diverse, Energetic, Refreshing, A Must-Try

In this video, I visited an open-air street breakfast market in Jinan, Shandong Province, China—Jingshan East Road Breakfast Market (Jingshan E Rd).

This street breakfast market has a history of over 30 years. It is located on a sidewalk along a major road, situated below a large residential community. On this 4-meter wide, 600-meter long sidewalk, you'll find a wide variety of northern Chinese breakfast specialties, along with fruits, vegetables, meat, and seafood.

However, this breakfast market only operates for two hours each day (6:00 AM to 8:00 AM). By 6:00 AM, just as the sun is rising, the market is already bustling with activity. Residents of the community flock here to buy all kinds of delicious food and enjoy their breakfast on-site. Commuters passing by also grab breakfast to go, making it incredibly convenient. I spoke with many of the breakfast vendors here, and most of them have been operating at this market for over 20 years—a rare and impressive feat.

This market is not a tourist destination, making it one of the best representations of northern Chinese breakfast culture.
