Jason Statham has opened up about the physical toll of performing his own action stunts, admitting that he has “gone too far” at times and suffered real injuries on set.
Speaking ahead of the release of his upcoming thriller Shelter, the 58-year-old action star revealed he’s hurt his neck and other parts of his body after pushing himself during dangerous scenes. Despite sharing two young children with fiancée Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Statham says his hands-on approach to stunt work hasn’t changed.
The actor also discussed the intense open-sea rescue sequence in Shelter, calling it one of the most physically demanding scenes of his career. The film, directed by Ric Roman Waugh, hits cinemas on January 30.
Statham is also set to reunite with director Guy Ritchie and Vinnie Jones in the upcoming gangster film Viva La Madness, marking another major chapter in his action-packed career.
