The two most commonly encountered color forms of the American millipedes Orthoporus ornatus are featured in this video. These millipedes are often called desert millipedes. This species ranges primarily in Arizona, NM and TX in the US and also of the country's border. I first encountered them in the wild in 2000 or 2001 in Arizona where the brown to reddish-purple color form there is usually called Sonoran or less commonly chocolate. The common color form in TX is banded in orange and yellow and is referred to as "gold."
