Four of nine people who face federal charges related to a large ICE protest in downtown Spokane this summer may change their pleas.
Former Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart, along with Mikki Hatfield, Collin Muncey and Bobbi Silva are scheduled to appear in federal court this month for change of plea hearings. Stuckart and eight others face charges of conspiracy to impede or injure officers. Silva and Hatfield also face charges of assault on a federal officer.
On Wednesday, Dec. 3, Hatfield pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to impede or injure officers.
Stuckart, Muncey and Silva are set to appear next week. There is no indication in court files of how each person will plead, nor if any charges will be amended.
The charges stem from a protest near Spokane's ICE office after Stuckart wrote a call to action on Facebook back in June, asking for support in protesting the detainment of two Venezuelan men.
Stuckart said on Facebook that one of the men had filed paperwork to seek asylum and was headed to the ICE office for a check-in when the man and his friend were detained.
A group of people blocked a truck supposedly meant to take the men to the ICE processing facility in Tacoma, and parked cars behind and in front of the truck to prevent it from leaving. The protest continued to grow and escalate through the evening, and several people were arrested before being released.#protesters #trump #elsalvador #donaldtrump #breakingnews #senator #elon #elonmusk #joerogan #jre #joeroganexperience #travel #cnn #meltdown #msnbc #fail #fails #fly #fbi #kashpatel #judge #elsalvador #abregogarcia #wisconsin #nationalguard #portlandprotests
