What happens when a BNSF SD70MAC on NS trackage locks up and needs to get a traction motor removed? RJ Corman gets on the job. The gang and I would happen to find ourselves in Gainesville, GA, finding an unexpected locomotive sitting in a siding that had been dropped off the day before. With a motor locked up on the rear axle, it would be temporarily out of service until RJ Corman and its infamous side booms arrived on the scene, getting to work lifting this unit off the the ground to remove the axle with the troublesome motor and install an idler. And fortunately for us, we happened to see the installation in action, witnessing a sight we probably won't see at this spot again.
