In this debut episode, Aneez M Latheef dives deep into the 2007 Bollywood psychological thriller No Smoking, written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. Despite being a commercial failure, this film has gained cult status over the years and remains one of Kashyap’s personal favorites.

Joining Aneez in this freewheeling, spoiler-filled session are Rinshad Kuruniyan, John Joe, and Mahadevan A R – who react, question, and often get lost in the smoke along with you!

MOVIE SUMMARY – No Smoking (2007)
No Smoking tells the story of K, a wealthy and arrogant chain smoker who refuses to quit despite repeated pleas from his wife. When he finally agrees to visit a mysterious rehabilitation center called “Prayogshala,” run by the enigmatic Baba Bengali, his life takes a surreal and horrifying turn. The center doesn’t just help you quit smoking – it punishes you for disobedience, through increasingly bizarre and metaphysical consequences. What starts as a personal decision quickly spirals into a nightmarish loss of control, freedom, and even identity.

Inspired loosely by Stephen King’s short story Quitters, Inc., this mind-bending movie explores themes of free will, addiction, and authoritarianism – all wrapped in a dark, Kafkaesque atmosphere.
