ABDUL HAMEED ADAM

Abdul Hameed Adam, the eminent Urdu poet of his era, graced the literary world with his profound verses and heartfelt expressions. Born on April 10, 1909, in Lyallpur, Punjab, he embarked on a poetic journey that would captivate the hearts of readers for generations to come. Despite facing early adversity, losing his father at a tender age, he found solace in the nurturing care of his relative, who later became his father-in-law. With determination and perseverance, Abdul completed his education and began his career as a clerk in the Military Account Department in Rawalpindi. As the years unfolded, his poetic prowess blossomed, unveiling a remarkable talent for crafting poignant verses in concise meters that resonated deeply with the soul. His verses embraced simplicity, yet carried profound ideas that stirred the emotions of his readers. With numerous published collections, including the renowned "Jhoot-sach" and "Nadaniyan," he established himself as a true master of the poetic art form. From nazms to masnavis and qata, his repertoire showcased the versatility of his poetic brilliance. dekh kar dil-kashī zamāne kī
aarzū hai fareb khāne kī

ai ġham-e-zindagī na ho nārāz
mujh ko aadat hai muskurāne kī

zulmatoñ se na Dar ki raste meñ
raushnī hai sharāb-ḳhāne kī

aa tire gesuoñ ko pyaar karūñ
raat hai mash.aleñ jalāne kī

kis ne sāġhar 'adam' buland kiyā
tham ga.iiñ gardisheñ zamāne kī
