Dallas Green Interview

Dallas Green represents the sonic variables of indie music, from post-hardcore to acoustic. With the Juno Award-winning Alexisonfire, and now side project turned full-time concern City and Colour, from rehearsing in a parent's basement to this, his first CMW Showcase appearance, Dallas has remained quintessentially Canadian and quintessentially independent. Since joining Alexisonfire in 2001, he has released 10 albums, 4 EPs and appeared as a guest in projects with at least 10 other bands. He's been busy.

So Canadian Music Week was extremely pleased that Dallas found time in his schedule to be a Celebrity Interview on Thursday, May 8th as part of the 2014 Music Summit, at the Toronto Marriot Hotel. The interview was conducted by respected journalist Matt Wells, whose insightful approach was to explicitly "tell a story", and the easy familiarity between the two let the audience hear a thoughtful, layered conversation. They discussed Dallas's time in Alexisonfire, the creation of City and Colour, and subsequent events, as well as the importance of "the Absence of Interference" between Record Label and Artist here in the 21st century Independent music scene, and much more in the hour-long interview.
