Glass-House Girls! A Cheshunt Story (1931)

Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.



"These particular ladies grow cucumbers and don't throw stones." (A joke on the proverb "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"). M/S of two women walking past a row of greenhouses. Interior of the greenhouse, the women pick cucumbers. C/U of cucumbers hanging down. Various shots of the women as they pick the vegetables and lay them carefully into boxes. C/U of box full of cucumbers.



"All that's missing is the salmon!" The girls carry out the boxes. Girls sort the cucumbers, they are laid carefully in wicker baskets. "Adam takes the result, of course!" Men lift the wicker baskets onto the back of a lorry.
