How to use modelling paste and watercolour

Why on earth would a watercolourist be interested in modelling paste (or texture paste or modeling paste, however you like to say/spell it)? Isn't it designed for use with acrylic only, I hear you ask.... Well stay with me. Perhaps you enjoy mixed media and want to use watercolour with texture, or perhaps you want to bring a third dimension to your watercolours, or perhaps you want to add a textured background... Whatever your reason, you will need to know how a modeling paste will react with watercolour. Will it repel it or will it absorb water?

Spoiler alert - they do not behave in the same way!
