Asa Butterfield and Ella Purnell, ex-YATI students turn successful professional Hollywood actors, held an inspiring Q & A session for the next generation now training at Young Actors Theatre. Andrew Harries, Artistic Director of YATI and teacher of both Asa and Ella hosted the free event for a packed house full of YATI students, their families and generous donors to the charity.

Guests travelled from far and wide to be in the audience and ask the stars questions, face to face. The atmosphere was very sweet and light hearted, with both Asa and Ella reminiscing of their time at Young Actors Theatre, and offering stories of being on big film sets. Asa Butterfield, has starred alongside Samuel L Jackson and Gary Oldman, has clocked up 10 years of experience on the big screen. Asa shared his techniques for learning lines, and how acting as a child and an adult differ.

Ella Purnell, also known for Maleficent, Wildlike, Kick Ass 2 among many, used to teach at YATI. She met up with her own pupils, and shared many tips including prioritising your school work, her own way to beat audition nerves, and the process of getting into character.

Above all Ella passed down to her from even more successful actors than herself; "work hard, and be humble."
