A Cross Before A Crown Song

Jesus was absolutely honest.
He said, if you follow me, you'll be hated because I am.
He didn't tell people it was a bed of roses, he said it'll be a crown of thorns.
He didn't call them to a picnic, but a battle.
He didn't offer people a cushion, but a cross.

Jesus was absolutely honest with his disciples.
If you follow me, you might have nowhere to lay your head,.
If you follow me you'll have to give up everything.
You'll have to get rid of your money, you rich young man.
He was honest, and he says, you'll be persecuted.

Christ said, in this world you will have troubles.


You will be persecuted because you're a peacemaker.
And people don't like peacemakers.
Whoever lives a godly life in Christ Jesus is different.
You're the conscience of mankind.
You're the different person who disturbs.
Your standards are so much higher.
And because they are in a state of enmity against God, they will have the same enmity towards God's people.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus says, Blessed are you when people insult you,
persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

It's reassuring you that you belong to God.
Two things prove you're one of God's people.
First, that you love the Brethren.
Secondly, that the world hates you.

The church is strongest when it's persecuted.
And a Christian is nearer to The Lord.
This beatitude is not only reassuring, it's refining, it's rewarding.
There is a special crown for the martyr.

You will spend your future with the prophets who suffered before you..
From the very beginning of the Acts, the disciples suffered and rejoiced that they were worthy to suffer for his name.
