President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has expressed satisfaction over the withdrawal of the transporters’ strike, terming it a prudent decision that will help restore supply chains, port operations, and overall business activity across the country.
In his comments to the media, the President KCCI emphasized that while the end of the strike has brought much-needed relief to traders, exporters, and importers, substantial losses were already incurred due to prolonged disruptions. He urged the federal and provincial governments to immediately intervene and persuade shipping companies, terminal operators, and port authorities to waive demurrage and detention charges imposed during the strike period.
He stressed that such relief is critical to ease the financial burden on the business community, support exporters facing delayed shipments, and prevent further escalation in the cost of doing business. The KCCI President reiterated that collective and prompt measures are essential to stabilize trade operations, restore confidence, and protect Pakistan’s economic interests.
