Diraq (with a q) has emerged out of stealth in Sydney, building silicon quantum processors using electron spins in CMOS quantum dots.

Silicon-based processors are a common approach in the quantum industry, since the fabrication techniques are well known.

They have made a reference to “over $100m in funding across 9 patent families”, but there is little information about where the funding comes from.

On their roadmap, the phase 1 milestone will be a 9-qubit logic processor.

Scorpion Capital, which has a short position on IonQ, has released a report on IonQ’s technology, claiming that through their interviews with former employees and executives, they allege that IonQ’s technology does not exist.

IonQ’s stock price recently dropped 10%.

The founders of IonQ have responded to the report, calling the report “disinformation” and “demonstrating a breathtaking ignorance of the quantum computing industry in general and IonQ technology in particular”.
