The Room Left Without Me

I run a parrot rescue. I am far from the only one.

Today, a fellow rescuer, someone who has been doing this work much longer than I have, shared a short piece written from a parrot’s point of view. It was a difficult thing to read. Quietly devastating, in fact. You can find the original post linked below.

It moved me to write this song for the countless parrots who begin life with no idea how many times they will be asked to adapt. New rooms. New faces. New voices. New routines. Over and over again.

This song is for the birds who endure those changes with a grace that often goes unnoticed. For the ones who remember every place they have been, every voice that once mattered, and still find a way to trust again.
