Rockfort Mineral Bath in Kingston has officially reopened following extensive renovations under a public-private partnership between the Jamaica National Heritage Trust and Carib Cement.
The mineral spring was discovered in 1907 following the Kingston Earthquake. The property also houses the historical ruins of an old fort that was fortified in 1694 to augment the defence of the island after the 1692 Port Royal earthquake. The Rockfort Mineral Baths was declared a national monument in 1992.
