Hi there, Hyundai owners. Today, on your 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's BRAKE-EVN trailer brake controller. In addition to the trailer brake controller, we're gonna be using kit ETBC7 here at etrailer to help us get all the wiring and seven-way connector mounted up here at the back. And this is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. You have adjustments here on the left and the right, and the brake controller's purpose is to activate the brakes on your trailer when you're hauling your trailer. So, if you've got a heavier trailer and you need to help it stop your vehicle, you wanna make sure you got a brake controller to activate those brakes so you get that extra stopping power.
This is a pretty small, little brake controller, and it'll work with vehicles or with trailers from one to four axles. It's a fairly simple brake controller. As far as the options it has, you have your gain control here on the left with your arrows and your boost control here on the right. You also have your manual slide here to activate the system. It does not come with a wiring harness to be able to plug it in, so you will wanna make sure that you pick up a wiring harness here at etrailer.
And now that we've covered some of the simpler features of this brake controller, why don't we get into the installation and show you how to get it installed on your Santa Fe. We'll begin our installation here at the back of the vehicle. First, we're gonna go ahead and mount up our seven-way. This is gonna plug directly into your existing four-way. So, if you don't already have a four-way flat connector installed, you'll make sure that you get one of these installed first.
We have custom-fit wiring harnesses here at etrailer. And you can check out those videos to see how to install them. It is a pretty easy installation to get that hooked up on your vehicle. We mounted our seven-way connector up to a long bracket. This is a no-drill bracket that clamped around our hitch here, it comes with a clamp, and that provides us with a mounting location for our bracket.
You can also purchase the long, no-drill bracket here at etrailer. This is one from Curt. And that way, we've got our mounting spot for our connector here at the back. The seven-way will mount to the seven-way bracket that comes included with your ETBC7 kit, that's this here. And you'll just use the two screws that it comes provided with to attach it to the long bracket there. You do have the option to just use self-tapping screws. But if you put it into a plastic paneling like this, it flexes a lot and over time, going to plug in and out, it will more than likely break your paneling here and then your connector's gonna be hanging down, so that's why we recommend the long bracket. You'll secure your seven-way connector to the seven-way mounting bracket using the four screws that come provided. You'll push the screw through, place on a flat washer, a lock washer and then a nut and then snug it down. It's a 10-millimeter for the nut size. And you can use either a Phillips or a flat to tighten down the other side of the screw head here. So, now that we've got our connector mounted up, we're gonna go ahead and start making our wire connections. We're gonna start with the four-way connector here that's coming off the back of our se
