FIDE Women's World Championship: Ju Needs A Draw To Retain The Crown! Ju vs. Tan Game 9

The FIDE World Chess Championship is a match between the current champion, GM Ju Wenjun, and challenger, GM Tan Zhongyi. Currently the second-highest-rated woman player in the world, Ju is a four-time Women's World Champion. She first gained the most coveted title in women's chess in 2018 after defeating Tan herself who is no stranger to world championships. Also a former women's world champion, Tan climbed to the top of the world in 2017!

The 2025 FIDE Women's World Championship consists of a 12-game match with a classical time control. The first player to reach 6.5 points becomes the Women's World Champion. The match will take place across the two Chinese cities of Shanghai, Ju's hometown, and Chongqing, Tan's hometown.
