Will Oregon be the first state in the nation to decriminalize all drugs?
Following on the heels of legalizing recreational cannabis use, Oregon voters will decide on whether to decriminalize the use of drugs like cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines. Decriminalization means that if a person is caught with a small amount of these drugs, rather than facing large fines, probabation and potentially jail time, they would receive a small fine that could be waived if they seek treatment. It turns drug use from a misdemeanor or felony into something more like a traffic ticket.
