Saint-Émilion (Saint-Émilion), whose original name was Ascumbas, took the name of Émilion as a Breton monk and died in 767. The monolithic underground church (a single rock) was excavated by him. It has been more than 1,300 years now and was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
該市及其附近廣植釀酒之葡萄園，酒莊甚多，著名的大都市波爾多，離此很近開車只需40多分鐘，搭火車也只約1小時。
There are many wine-making vineyards and wineries in and around the city. The famous metropolis Bordeaux is very close to here and only takes more than 40 minutes by car and only about an hour by train.
