東急東横線・目黒線の元住吉駅を降りて駅前商店街を散歩します。元住吉は東急線の始発駅であり、古くから住宅街と商店街が広がる川崎市中原区の駅です。東京・渋谷と横浜・みなとみらいのちょうど中間地点にあり交通の便も良いところとして知られています。住吉駅駅前西口のブレーメン商店街、ブレーメン通りは東急・東横線沿線でも有数の規模を誇る規模となっています。

元住吉駅は近年目黒線延伸に伴い駅自体が高架化されましたが、駅に隣接する元住吉検車区(電車の車庫)があるため、踏切自体は残っています。高架化に伴い元住吉駅自体が、武蔵小杉寄りから日吉寄りに移動しました。(以前は踏切の北側に元住吉駅がありました)

元住吉は渋谷からの最終列車の終着点だったので、終電の時間帯には昔は白タクが横浜方面に乗り遅れた人を拾いにくる風景も見られたものでした。


I got off Motosumiyoshi Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Meguro Line and took a walk in the shopping district in front of the station. Motosumiyoshi is the first station on the Tokyu line, and is a station in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City, where residential areas and shopping districts have been spread for a long time. It is located just halfway between Tokyo / Shibuya and Yokohama / Minatomirai, and is known for its convenient transportation. Bremen Street, the Bremen shopping street at the west exit of the station, is one of the largest on the Tokyu / Toyoko Line.

Motosumiyoshi Station has been elevated in recent years due to the extension of the Meguro Line, but the railroad crossing itself remains because there is a Motosumiyoshi inspection area (train garage) adjacent to the station. The station itself has moved from Musashi Kosugi to Hiyoshi due to the elevation. (Previously there was a station on the north side of the railroad crossing)

Motosumiyoshi was the final stop of the last train from Shibuya, so in the past, white taxis could be seen picking up people who missed the Yokohama area during the last train.
