No Man’s Sky is a sprawling sci-fi exploration/survival sandbox from Hello Games, constantly evolving with free major updates. As of 2025, the most recent Voyagers update has added some of its most ambitious features yet.

What the Game Is

You begin as a “Traveller”, exploring procedurally generated planets, each with unique biomes, wildlife, resources, and weather hazards—sometimes deadly ones (storms, toxic atmospheres, etc.).

The core loop involves gathering resources, upgrading equipment (spaceship, multi-tool, exosuit), exploring, trading, base building, combat, and discovery.

Missions include main storylines (e.g. Atlas, etc.), side missions, and community/expedition events.

Key Recent Additions (Voyagers & Related Updates)

Corvette-class starships: Large, fully customizable ships that act like mobile bases. Interiors can include med-bays, sleeping quarters, radars, war rooms, teleporters, etc. Players can walk around inside.

Spacewalking & skydiving: You can exit Corvettes in space, float between ships, or skydive into atmospheres—adding dramatic traversal options.

Improved visuals & scale: Better rendering, lighting, planet surfaces, water, clouds, etc. The ambitious size of these features pushed the engine to its limits.

Other Recent Expansions

Relics introduced archaeology/paleontology: dig up alien bones, reconstruct skeletons, display them in museums, with rare finds and dangers guarding them.

Worlds Part II added new planet types like gas giants and water worlds, dramatic terrain, more varied biomes, and enhanced visuals.
