Please note that again, that just like in the other episode, many speakers in Brazil don’t necessarily pronounce the “s” in plurals. It is believed that this comes from the influence of Italian immigrants. These simply omitted the “s” and since there were many of them coming to Brazil between the 1920s and the 1960s, they influenced other native speakers over many generations generations.

Often people abbreviate regular words such as “está” (is) which turns into “tá” in spoken language. We have put the correct form in brackets so you can see the difference.

The media giant Globo and the city of Sao Paulo started this greening project, which collaborates with different groups who are engaged in creating better living conditions for citizens.
