Lumsdale Falls, Matlock, Derbyshire, England

UPDATE JUNE 2020
Please note that the Lumsdale Valley and the ruins of the mills are currently CLOSED to public access. The ruins are on private land. Those visiting the area can still walk along the public footpath and see the ruins from the lane, but the path through the mills alongside the Brook is not accessible. Very sadly, there have been many recent instances of vandalism and destruction, with visitors climbing on the fragile ruins, leaving litter, etc, and the owners have had to close the site to repair the damage and clean up. This is a precious site of great archeological and historic importance, and we would please request that everyone complies and stays away at this time to try and ensure its survival. YOU CAN STILL ENJOY THE LOCATION VIRTUALLY BY WATCHING THIS VIDEO👍

This is definitely a hidden gem and a recommended day out for the family. There are different levels of waterfalls as well as ruins of old mills. At the top you can find a large pond and bench.

We didn't officially follow a map as we had a fair idea of where we were going but after the trip we plotted the loop we did which you can see though the links below.
