How would Toulouse Lautrec depict a Police officer in the 21st Century?
A family posing as a group for a souvenir photo of the army parties ironically contaminated by the explosive Parisian nightlife, it’s gambling parlors, dance clubs and night characters realistically illustrated without social prejudice by Henry de Toulouse-Lautrec.
The static nature of the family group all glammed up in the police officers’ uniform, emphasizes the severity of MTOF Autumn / Winter 2020 collection.Austere cut woollen Overcoats, finished off with transversal bands, are the embodiment of sartorial precision.
The transversal band, is an explicit redesign of the white leather belt on the police officers’ uniform, which has been re-interpreted in this collection, transforming the color of the drawstring tassels into red and blue. The drawstring tassel is the staple item of the collection that creates a striking contrast with the sequins and viscose frills.The collection is characterized by a bespoke tailoring; wide and soft-fuzzy V-neckline sweaters paired up with structured Trousers, Skirts and trendy Bermuda shorts. The Waistline is enhanced by a Y line, that highlights the elegant and sinuous silhouette epitomizing everything that is feminine.Cardigans, Sweaters, Dresses embellished with Jacquard and Vanisè techniques combined with a play of colored vertical lines and Rouches, outlines a femininity that is never taken for granted.The A/I 2020 collection is a Burlesque mix of two different moods, that gave rise to a tailored, yet still maintaining, a utilitarian and feminine touch, which is emphasized by the tactile look and feel of Cashmere, Viscose and various technical fibres.Long shoes and extremely pointed gloves, are used to underline the gestures and movements, that almost emodies the caricatural portraits of Henry De Toulouse-Lautrec.
