1975. Geraldo Rivera on his Good Night America news program hosts Peter Benchley, author of the book-turned-movie 'Jaws', additionally co-writing the film adaptation. We start with a scene from the movie itself before hearing from Mr. Benchley about his motivations for the book, growing up on Nantucket and catching sharks as a youth. Roy Scheider, one of the lead actors, also sits in on this interview with a few brief comments.
Peter Benchley wrote several shark and ocean themed novels which were adapted for the big screen. Later in life he advocated for marine conservation. Mr. Benchley passed away in 2006.
