Diagnosing a bad hub can be sometimes difficult. In my case, I was beginning to hear a loud hum coming from the front at 55 mph. The sound disappeared when going slower or going faster. I also felt a solid vibration thru the steering wheel at 55 mph. These signed were telling me I had a hub begining to failing. A complete fialing is vibartion AND humming noise at all speeds. Also, a failing hub generates a lot of heat which can be felt thru the rim with a touch from your hand. A failed hub is a sign the grease with in the bearing are shot or dryed up so there is no lubrication with in the hub. This is why the hubs get very very hot and even catch fire if ignored. Failed hubs is something I have had over the years once on this truck and 2 other vehicles I have owned. Originally I was planning to just replace the the hub and I thought,... why not also rotate the tires on the front. After pulling off the tire on one side, I noticed the pads were looking a bit thin. So, I pulled passenger tire (bad hub side) and saw the pads were very thin. Then as I begand to remove the rotor, oh boy, the rotor was failing as well in the inside. So a hub replacement turned into a Hub, Rotor and brake pad replacement. I this video, I did without the music (someone complained I play dumb music) and cut back on my talking (also told I talk to much) and this is what a video looks and sound like when I remove those 2 items.
