Join me on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Swedish nature, where the osprey (Pandion haliaetus) has been protected and studied for over 50 years. Since 1968, more than 100 artificial nest platforms have been built, and over 1,500 osprey chicks have been successfully ringed to support conservation and research.
In this video, you’ll follow Day 2 of the 2025 ringing season. Together with my team, we climbed to active nests, ringed osprey chicks, and documented their growth and survival in the wild. Out of 28 chicks, 23 were ringed, two were too small, and three nests were inaccessible due to height and terrain.
This long-term project shows how dedicated conservation work helps protect the osprey population in Sweden, ensuring that these magnificent raptors continue to soar over our lakes and forests for generations to come.
