Huracan 300 2025 | 350mi Bikepacking Central Florida

In February 2025 I attempted the infamous Huracan Bikepacking route. This route covers some of the best gravel, forest roads, and singletrack central Florida has to offer. Some riders race this as fast as they can with no or as little sleep as possible and others just do it for the adventure and experience. I chose the latter and planned on a 3 night / 4 day finish. I started at 815am on Saturday morning with the Grand Depart and finished my 346mi route at 830pm on Tuesday night.

Route choices:

400 mile WTF route (the most challenging)
370 mile OG route ( the original and the route I chose)
330 mile Lite route (gravel bike friendly, no singletrack or river crossings)

I finished, but only completed 346 miles out of 374 miles… I had to cut out some of the singletrack sections and some of the hill climbs due to an existing chronic injury to my left wrist. Any pre-existing injuries will be aggravated by this challenge, so be careful and don’t push yourself past the breaking point.

There were two designated group camps set up by Karlos. I did not make it to either, fell just short on the daily miles each time. However, there are numerous campsites and hotel/motel options along the route. Use the route map, google maps, and since the Florida Trail (hiking) intersects the route several times… there should be many FT campsites nearby too. I use the Far Out app for most of my hiking trips and have purchased the Florida Trail route so all the campsites are visible on my phone.

The Huracan is designed as a race so all participants are free to ride at their own pace. If you do the grand depart, you will most likely not spend too much time alone and can easily find other riders that are on a similar pace.
