The launch of BBC Choice on the 23rd September 1998. Choice was the UKs first digital only TV channel.
At the time Sky Digital and OnDigital hadn't publicly launched so there were no digital TV receivers available in the shops. Because of this the first night was watched by very few people - this was a soft launch for promotional use. However the early programmes were repeated for many months afterwards
The first programme was 'Choose Choice' presented by Clive Anderson
