We sailed the WAM Cat Mk 3, built by WAM (Waan Aelon in Majel) in Majuro and funded by GIZ, for a trial to the small uninhabited island of Bok En. Was a quick ride downwind of about 20 nm. Stayed on the island for 3 days for fishing etc. and then sailed the 20 miles back tacking upwind.
This craft is the third iteration of WAM's design for emission free sailing vessels for cargo, passengers and fishing. Two other cats have been built since its introduction in 2020 and do a good job in the outer islands. You can find a detailed report on how they were made here: www.proas.is/publications/
